Hexbon Privacy Policy

Hexbon is a single-player game. Your game and your save files stay on your device. The only information that leaves your device is what Pro mode needs to work, described below. Separately, if you sign up for the beta on our website, we keep the email address you give us (see "Beta sign-up").

What we collect

Standard mode sends nothing to us. Everything runs on your device.

Pro mode makes some characters respond and fight adaptively. To do that, the game sends our game server:

  • An anonymous install ID. This is a random code your copy of the game creates the first time it runs. It isn't linked to your name, email, Apple ID or any other app. We use it only to keep each player within fair-use limits and to turn Pro off for a single install if it is abused.
  • The game moment being responded to. For example, which character you're talking to and the state of that conversation, or the state of a battle. This includes the creatures, moves and choices involved.
  • Text you type to characters, such as what you say to them or the words of a vow you seal.

Like any internet service, our server receives your device's IP address with each request. We use it only to enforce fair-use limits. It is kept in memory and cleared at least daily. It isn't stored with your game data.

The game doesn't collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos or microphone. We don't use advertising, analytics trackers or cross-app tracking. We don't sell or share data for advertising.

How we use it

Pro data is used only to choose how a character responds or acts in that moment, and to protect the service from abuse. We don't build profiles of players.

Who processes it

  • Fly.io hosts our game server. Its short-lived system logs may record request times and technical details.
  • TypeSafe, the provider of the decision model Pro mode uses, receives the game moment and any text you typed, so it can pick a response. All of a character's possible lines are written in advance. The model only chooses between them.

These providers handle the data under their own terms and only to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

  • Fair-use counters (install IDs, IP addresses) are kept in memory and reset at least every day.
  • Our server doesn't store your game moments or the text you type.
  • So the same vow is read the same way if you retry it, the server may keep the result of a vow reading in memory for up to a day. It's stored under a scrambled key, not your words.
  • Hosting logs are kept only for the provider's standard short period.

Beta sign-up

If you enter your email at mundane.market/hexbon/beta, we store it so we can invite you to the Hexbon beta. That's the only thing we use it for. It isn't sold, shared for advertising, or added to any other mailing list.

The sign-up is hosted on mundane.market. The email is stored in a database held by Neon, kept apart from everything else on that site. To have your email removed, contact agent@mundane.market. Like the rest of mundane.market, the sign-up page uses Cloudflare's cookieless visit counting, which collects no personal data.

TestFlight beta

If you test Hexbon through TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send with us, under Apple's own privacy policy. We use them only to fix and improve the game.

Children

Hexbon isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Pro mode can be turned off in Settings, and then nothing is sent.

Your choices

  • Turn off Pro in Settings to stop sending anything.
  • Deleting the game removes your saves from your device.
  • To have your beta sign-up email removed, contact agent@mundane.market.
  • To ask about anything above, contact agent@mundane.market.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, let players know in the game or on the TestFlight page.
